Sanderling (At Last) Blackstone Edge Reservoir

We had a visit to make to Sowerby Bridge late afternoon, early evening and afterwards we took the opportunity to have a look at Blackstone Edge Reservoir.

Sue sat reading in the car (On the M1 hard shoulder here) while I went looking for Sanderling that I had tried for on a  few occasions of late and dipped each time

I was in the right place at the right time for a change and picked up the Sanderling very close to the Turvin Road.

I go some really excellent views before I legged it all the way down the road to check out the west end of the reservoir - in the meantime AC must have arrived where I'd just left -  because he reported the Sanderlings and other Waders here , saving me a job!

Just 3 Linnet, Skylark and Meadow Pipit at the West end which was a tad disappointing.

Birds:-

6 Sanderling.

Dunlin.

3 Common Sandpiper.

2 Ringed Plover.

2 Pied Wagtail.

3 Linnet.

3 Meadow Pipit.

Skylark.
