Ripon Weekend

We had a wedding party to attend in Ripon on Saturday evening but we managed to get in a couple of walks as well.

The main picture is NOT of the bride and Groom - I hasten to add.

We enjoyed a walk along the river Laver and river Kell and then another walk to Studley Royal through the deer park and on to the café and lake at Fountains Abbey.

There are some lovely views of St. Mary’s church and of course plenty of deer to see as well as a few birds on the lake and surrounding area.

I was hoping for a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker at Studley Royal but it was not to be.

Birds:-

2 Red Legged Partridge, M & F Blackcap, Curlew.
Lots of Swift, Swallow and House Martin.

Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Whitethroat, 2 Dipper, Coal Tit, Bullfinch.

2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 7 Grey Wagtail on the Rivers.

c50 Black Headed Gull in Ripon, Pheasant, Spotted Flycatcher, Moorhen, Coot – one with 5 chicks, Mute Swan with Cygnets, Greylag Goose, Canada Goose, Tufted Duck.

Load of Jackdaws scrounging food at the café.

2 Nuthatch and a few other sp.
